RACEBUDDY
Client Project | High-Performance Telemetry Device
The Project
RaceBuddy began as a smartphone application for lap timing and vehicle telemetry. To achieve professional-grade accuracy, the development pivoted to a dedicated hardware solution. The project required a casing designed around a pre-existing PCB and a fixed sensor array. The objective was to create a functional, automotive-inspired housing that could withstand the demands of a racetrack while remaining simple to manufacture.
The Solution
The design focuses on a minimalist, dual-shell architecture optimized for high-volume plastic injection molding. The development process ensured that all external elements—tactile buttons, status LEDs, and I/O ports for USB-C and SD cards—were integrated into a compact (110mm x 45mm) and rugged form factor.
Internal pockets were engineered for high-strength magnets, allowing for secure mounting on the vehicle’s exterior. The final design has been successfully moved into production, bridging the gap between a software concept and a tangible, market-ready professional tool.
