POLESTAR ANTARES

Personal Project | Polestar Design Contest 2024

The Project

Developed for the Polestar Design Contest 2024 in collaboration with Hot Wheels, the Antares concept is a study in cross-brand design. The challenge was to interpret the proportions of a classic American muscle car using Polestar’s minimalist design language. The goal was to create a vehicle that works effectively as both a full-scale performance concept and a 1:64 scale die-cast toy.

The Solution

The Antares focuses on clean surfaces and sharp edges to define its form, moving away from the aggressive detailing typical of traditional muscle cars. The design prioritizes “muscle-minimalism”—combining a robust, wide-track silhouette with Polestar’s signature “less is more” philosophy. Every surface transition was developed to ensure that the car remains visually impactful when scaled down to a miniature format, maintaining the brand’s identity through a high-contrast, monochromatic palette.

Key Features

  • Muscle-Minimalism: A fusion of classic muscle car proportions with clean, minimalist surfacing and sharp geometry.
  • Dual-Scale Optimization: Engineered to maintain visual clarity and detail at both full-scale and in a 1:64 die-cast format.
  • Surface Logic: Sharp, deliberate edges that emphasize the sculptural quality of the bodywork.
  • Brand Synergy: A cohesive integration of Polestar’s aesthetic values into a Hot Wheels “Original 16” inspired concept.
  • Visual Identity: Utilization of a high-contrast material palette to define the car’s futuristic silhouette.
