LAND ROVER DEFENDER & TRAILER

Collaborative Project | Mid-Poly Vehicle & Equipment Modeling

The Project

Developed as a portfolio piece for Lav Games, this project features a comprehensive expedition setup consisting of a Land Rover Defender and an off-road trailer. The objective was to execute a mid-poly workflow optimized for real-time environments in Unreal Engine 5, balancing visual detail with the performance requirements of the engine.

The Solution

Djordje was responsible for the complete modeling phase, including the vehicle, the trailer, and the entire suite of expedition equipment. The focus was on mechanical accuracy and silhouette definition while maintaining a professional topology suitable for game engines. This collaborative project highlights the modeling phase as a foundation for advanced PBR texturing and lighting. While Djordje handled the modeling in Autodesk Maya, the UV unwrapping, baking, texturing, and final rendering in Unreal Engine 5 were performed by James Ray Cock.

Key Features

  • Expedition Asset Modeling: Complete modeling of the vehicle assembly, including roof racks, auxiliary lighting, storage cases, and recovery gear.
  • Off-Road Trailer: Custom-modeled trailer asset designed to match the technical proportions and aesthetic of the Defender.
  • Mid-Poly Workflow: A balanced modeling approach specifically tailored for Unreal Engine 5 performance and high-fidelity detail.
  • Technical Topology: Strategic management of geometry to ensure professional-grade surfaces for baking and real-time lighting.
  • Collaborative Pipeline: Integration of modeling assets into the subsequent production phases handled by James Ray Cock.
