SUBTECH AMPHIBIOUS SUBMERSIBLE

Client Project | Amphibious Vehicle Design & Visualization

The Project

Commissioned by Jaksche Technology (Austria) in 2015, SubTech was a conceptual design study for a high-speed amphibious submarine intended for special operations. The goal was to develop a multi-mode vehicle that could transition between a speedboat, a submarine, and a terrestrial vehicle. The client’s primary requirement was a radical departure from traditional naval forms, strictly mandating a “cool,” high-performance visual identity inspired by supercar design to help attract potential investment for the project.

The Solution

Djordje was responsible for the styling and the strategic packaging of the vehicle’s complex internal components. The client’s insistence on a dynamic, sports-car-inspired aesthetic directly dictated the vehicle’s unconventional proportions and significantly larger-than-planned dimensions. Despite these stylistic constraints, the design had to integrate a crew of eight, three propulsion jets, and three large electric motors within a carbon-fiber hull.

Djordje’s key contributions included the integration of a front-mounted rudder system for enhanced agility and the proposal of a modular “Mission Box” at the front. This removable compartment was designed to be swapped depending on the objective—from weapons storage to medevac or drone transport. The final exterior, including camouflage and decals, was optimized for small-scale 3D printing and high-fidelity presentations.

Key Features

  • Triple-Mode Mobility: A conceptual platform designed for high-speed surface cruising, underwater operations, and land movement via retractable tracks.
  • Client-Driven Styling: Execution of a high-impact visual identity, prioritizing aggressive automotive surfacing as per the client’s specific aesthetic mandate.
  • Modular Tactical Integration: A custom-designed, removable “Mission Box” to allow for rapid reconfiguration between different combat or rescue roles.
  • Technical Packaging: Strategic organization of primary internal volumes to accommodate bulky electric motors, jet propulsion, and retractable hardware.
  • Presentation-Ready (2015): Complete development of the exterior form and visual branding, specifically tailored for 3D-printed prototypes and project pitching.
